Declan Millar

Declan is a young songwriter hailing from Glastonbury in the heart of Somerset. His lyrical songwriting, informed by myth, story and social commentary, combines a strong awareness of tradition with characteristic open tuned guitar and resonant vocals.

For a young artist (aged 19) he has a strong track record, performing at gigs and festivals around the Southwest and as far afield as Whitby. He has his roots on the Southwest Festival scene playing in cafes and on traveller stages. Since then he has played at various other festivals in the South West, including the Big Green Gathering, Keynsham and Larmer Tree and has played at venues varying from Salisbury Arts Centre, Colston hall and Musicport in Whitby. In 2011, aged just 14, he supported Lau at Dartington Hall. In recent years he has worked with Thomas Brooman co-founder of Womad.

He released his first record, “Welcome to the Earth” in 2012 produced in Bristol by Patrick Duff. He completed his second “The Wheel of Life” in collaboration with his sister, Caelia Lunniss, in 2014, recorded in a local church and produced by Nathan Lewis Williams.
2015 winner of Bath Folk New Shoots Competition, Declan's song writing goes from strength to strength.
